this will be the most real review of this place. I was told i was being sent to inpatient somewhere after an attempt, my mind immediately went to shadow mountian and i quite literally sobbed in the hospital room out of pure terror of what was to come. they told me i was going to parkside, i had never heard of parkside and immediately googled it. the reviews spoke of it being bad and how they only cared about money, que more tears of terror. i was sent to the acute adolescents ward (so i dont know anything about adult acute or residential) i got there around 1 am and was met by sam the night tech, i cried like an idiot while he took my vitals. i was honestly a such a mess it was embarrassing. he was incredibly kind. he was able to calm me down and even gave me extra chocolate milk before he sent me to bed. bless that man. we wake up at 7 on weekdays and another girl who was new was in my room, she was sweet and we immediately got along. in fact everyone else there was super nice and told you what to do if you didnt know and welcomed you the second you got there. i promise you this place isnt the dark dingy flickering lights place you think it is. its small and brightly colored and pretty clean. the schedule is really easy to pick up on and follow. we go to rec like twice a day down stairs (downstairs you can watch movies, play ping bong, draw/paint, play an arcade machine, or play fuse ball) while your on your floor there are board games but 99% of the time you play uno, that game is literally life at parkside. you do groups numerous times a day where they teach you various coping skills, life skills, and healthy relationship skills. honestly most groups are very easy to get involved in. now the staff, one word. amazing. i know you may hear how they only care about the money but i loved each and every staff memeber i met while there. if you ever have terra and jamie working at the same time your in for an amazing day, they are both very funny and caring and sweet and really help you feel at home, plus any group they do together will be your favorite group. sam the night tech is amazing and i wish i would have seen him more. alfreda spent a lot of time playing uno with us and commenting every time we played a bad card, she was great. dominic was amazing and made me laugh everytime i was around him whether is was his jokes or his facial expression. Hewitt seemed to be there always, he was super sweet and really loved christmas. i could go on about all of these people and more because everyone there was honestly amazing. parkside was truly helpful and a good experience. if youre in my shoes and are scared of going to parkside the only thing you have to be scared of is missing people when you leave. i 100% recommend it if you need help.

I have had my daughter here & the staff all around has been very helpful, patient & caring both as an in patient thru residential care & now with outpatient counseling, they have answered my questions & has always been respectful to both of us. The one thing i really have respect for is they educated my daughter anout het meds what she was taking & why & to identify them as she took them. This way when given to her she knew exactly what & why she was taking them. It has been a rough rode but we are getting there. Thanks for the help. mom Gale

Its a terrible place for adults but younger children are treated well here. The facility is great. If you have a lower incomethis is probably the best place you can go and it is SO much better than Shadow Mountain.

Parkside has really helped me to live in mainstream society despite my illness. The therapist at the adult unit does a superb job in helping her clients. Her name is Ms. Beasley. She played a big part in turning my life around in leaps and bounds.
